Giants Ridge (day 2)
Even though Eveleth MN has more snow and is cooler then the Twin Cities, I still woke up to it raining outside. I first I thought the weekend was shot, but then it stopped raining. We got our gear on and met up with Viv (a relative that works at Giants Ridge). She got us lift passes for $20!!! Even though it rained, to my surprise the snow was great. Drew and I stuck together so we could live dangerously on our snowboards. Dad actually was able to keep up on skis, which is decent because he has only been skiing 3 times in the last 10 years. We met up with the Viv, Heidi, Kay and Rachel group for a while but our interests didn’t keep us together the whole day. Heidi is still learning how to snowboard so she was happy to go down the hill with a group that goes at her pace. Drew and I found some sweet runs in the trees. This would have normally been suicide for me on a snowboard but I was on a roll. Going through trees is one of the hardest things you can do on a snowboard because you usually need a wider area to turn and stop. Plus you have to do a lot of pumping over bumps and turns.
Mom, Tyler, and Nikki forgot to bring their snow gear so they ended up shopping, eating, and resting the whole day. Punks...
After snowboarding a few of us went to the local bar and grill to pick up some pizzas for the group. The pizzas took a long time to make, so we all ordered a drink. We spent a total of $11 for 5 drinks!!! At bars in the twin cities it would have easily cost over $25. I was so excited about how cheap drinks were that I thought about moving up to this small town for about 30 seconds. Then I realized it was a small town and changed my mind again.
We went back to our sweet villa, ate some good pizza, played Apples to Apples for like 4 hours, and then watched SNL the best of Will Ferrell before going to bed.
